Every year since 1958, The University of Colorado, Boulder has hosted the nenowned Colorado Shakespeare Festival. The event is held over the course of two months on the CU-Boulder campus and features four plays presented and performed by Shakespearean experts.
Residents of Boulder are certain to be familiar with the banners hanging on various posts and pillars along Broadway St, advertising the coming years Shakespeare Festival. However, what they may be suprised to know is that this year those banners have been upcycled into commemorative tote bags thanks to a conscious decision by CU-Presents and the CU-Environmental Center.
Our continued relationship with the CU-Environmental Center and affiliated campus groups, as well as other institutions of higher education, has been an education in itself. We increasingly see the value in what these institutions are doing to create public awareness on and off of campus about the positive benefits of upcycling and other campus sustainability initiatives.
Hats off to all the people responsible for helping make college campuses sanctuaries for sustainability.
