Make Waves with a Unique Tote from Tennessee Aquarium’s Banner Upcycling Initiative

The Tennessee Aquarium’s banner upcycling program was born out of a desire to reduce waste and promote sustainability. When the aquarium realized that it had accumulated a large collection of old banners from past events, it decided to put them to good use. With the help of a Ecologic Designs, the banners were transformed into stylish tote bags. These bag are made & sewn in USA. Not only do these bags provide a practical and eco-friendly alternative to single-use plastic bags, but they also allow visitors to carry a piece of the aquarium with them wherever they go.

The Tennessee Aquarium is a nonprofit public aquarium located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It is one of the largest freshwater aquariums in the world and features two buildings: the River Journey and the Ocean Journey. The River Journey focuses on the freshwater habitats and species found in the Tennessee River and its tributaries. It features exhibits such as the River Giants, which showcases the aquarium’s largest fish species, and the Appalachian Cove Forest, which displays the aquarium’s diverse plant and animal species from the surrounding Appalachian Mountains.

The Ocean Journey highlights saltwater ecosystems and species found in the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean. The exhibits include the Secret Reef, which houses a wide variety of coral and fish species, and the Butterfly Garden and Insectarium, which features a collection of butterflies, moths, and other insects.
